Why parental leave MUST be promoted for our nation’s working fathers

The Guardian reported recently that ‘men need parental leave just as much as women and kids do’.  Music to our ears!

The Guardian highlights the following benefits of promoting paternity and parental leave to the health and wellbeing of our nation’s working fathers:

  • helps fathers build closer relationships with their children
  • reduces alcohol consumption
  • less unequal division of domestic chores and fewer household conflicts
  • lower mortality rates

With that in mind, we need to offer support to our working dads so that they are better informed and able to make CHOICES about their role as a father.
